Cathy Anderson
is a member of the Kitchener Waterloo Symphony and a freelance cellist and teacher based in Kitchener, Ontario.
She has performed with the:
- St. Lawrence, Penderecki, Borealis and Lafayette String Quartets at the Festival of the Sound and the Elora Festival, and has been broadcast on CBC Radio Two.
She has played solo recitals at:
- Various colleges and universities in Ontario, and more recently has played duet concerts with bassist (and husband) Brian Baty.
Cathy has performed concertos with:
- The Consortium Aurora Borealis in Thunder Bay, and with the Wilfrid Laurier University Orchestra, and until recently was a member of the Thunder Bay Symphony and a session lecturer at Lakehead University.
Ventures outside the world of classical music have involved:
- Playing with a few Guelph bands including Sandcastle Theory, and recording tracks for many different types of artists, from folk to rock and all sorts of unidentified styles in between!
Catherine holds a Master of Music degree from Yale University:
- Where she studied with Prof. Aldo Parisot and was coached regularly by members of the Tokyo String Quartet.
She received a Bachelor of Music from Wilfrid Laurier University (Waterloo, ON)
Where she studied with cellist Paul Pulford and other members of the Penderecki String Quartet.
